Challenges
Minori came to us with a fully custom headless e-commerce website, but they wanted to change the software development partner. So they reached out to us looking for help with cleaning up the code, improving the speed, SEO, adding new functionalities, and helping them with ongoing maintenance.
Solutions
We began our collaboration by UX audit to create a seamless customer journey on the website and also improve the user's experience.
Scalable Code
The client's storefront was built with Headless Shopify using Next.js and React, but nothing worked properly. The website was hardcoded and didn't allow customizing it. So our team made scalable and refactorable code.
Page Speed and SEO Audit
Another problem was low performance and speed—page speed matters. Improving page speed increases the ability to drive more traffic to the website, drive engagement and increase conversion rates.
We determined the problem and optimization strategy during testing with GTMetrix and PageSpeed Insights. The problem was “dead code,” a leftover and unused CSS, JavaScript, and HTML. It forces the browser to download and sift through useless rubbish. It slows rendering time and download.
Refactoring is a way forward to clean up our code, reduce complexity, and improve functionality. Refactoring provides more excellent readability and improves the maintainability of the source code and the overall structure and functionality. It turns messy, incorrect, and/or repetitive code into clean code.
So after code coverage with tests and refactoring, we got a pretty good score.
Homepage Redesign
Minori asked to improve their homepage. So we added a new press section, customer reviews section, product carousel, product launch block, and made other improvements. Also, our front-end developer made some changes to product and blog pages.
Blog Page
Minori has a Headless Shopify storefront using Next.js and React. However, they don't have a Content Management System at the moment. We could select the most suitable CMS and integrate it, but the client preferred to manage blog content from the Shopify admin panel at the moment. So for deployment, we chose Vercal - a platform for static sites and front-end frameworks built to integrate with your headless content, commerce, or database and integrated it into their Shopify store. As a result, now their blog articles come online.
Product Page
Mobile Responsive Website
In step with the excellence of their minimalism concept, we kept everything lightweight and fast. We made the website more responsive on mobile. So, mobile conversions have increased since the launch of the new mobile-friendly website.
Increased Conversions
Also, our team fixed the basket on the website. Before, customers could add items to the basket but weren't able to be redirected to the checkout page. So to make a purchase, they needed to reach out to the seller via email. After we fixed the basket functionality, conversions increased.
Ongoing Support
We offer ongoing support for this growing business, improving the tech part of the store. Our team continuously makes improvements to the website, A/B testing different versions, and features to get the highest conversion rate.
Methodology
We create transparency both through visualization tools like ClickUp and through continuous communication with a dedicated Project Manager.
